Engaines Primary School and Nursery

Achieving great things together

A message from the Headteacher

Dear Parents and Carers,

A very warm welcome to Engaines Primary School's website. We are so proud to have been judged by Ofsted as a Good School in July 2016.

It is a great privilege to be the Headteacher of such a thriving, busy school community where high aspirations and a caring family ethos are at the heart of what we do. I am in the 5th year of my Headship here and am proud to say that that our school has gone from strength to strength.

“The headteacher has a clear and aspirational vision for the school. This is shared by an able leadership team and by governors who know their school well and are committed to improvement.” (Ofsted July 2016)

This year is an exciting time for our school following a strong set of Year 6 SATs results. These Key Stage 2 progress results put us well above average nationally for writing (about 10% of schools achieved this); above the national average for reading (about 10% of schools achieved this) and in-line with national data for maths. Children achieving the expected level in these areas combined was in-line with national outcomes.

“Pupils’ progress and outcomes are improving at a good pace, particularly in reading and writing. There is a trend of improvement across all subjects.“ (Ofsted July 2016)

Our school vision is “Achieving great things together” – we want all of our pupils to achieve high standards academically alongside achieving personal goals in everything that they do, for example in sport, the arts or leadership skills.

Our beautiful, rural setting enables our children to learn in calm, peaceful and awe inspiring surroundings. In the Early Years Foundation stage, outdoor learning is an integral requirement of the curriculum; our children enjoy an extensive outdoor setting in which to learn and play together.

“Early years provision is good. Children are taught well. Standards attained by the end of the Reception year have risen markedly over the past two years.” (Ofsted July 2016)

Our Cooperative learning approach underpins all that we do and reflects the beliefs of all pupils, staff and governors here at our school. Collectively we build our pupils’ aspirations and give them the skills and learning experiences to achieve them.

“Pupils are keen to learn. They are proud of their school and behave well. Parents rate the work of the school highly and feel very involved in their children’s education.”

 (Ofsted July 2016)

We are fortunate to receive tremendous support from our parents and carers. The home, school partnership is one of exceptional importance to us as we firmly believe that this is the key to ensuring successful learning for your child.

On arriving at Engaines Primary School, you immediately notice the excellent learning behaviour of our pupils and the passion, enthusiasm and friendliness of our staff. We believe that your children’s’ journey to learning is lifelong and we feel privileged that Engaines Primary School is where this very important journey begins.
