This term in Reception Class we have been learning all about the South Pole and how melting icecaps are affecting our planet.
We have observed our icecaps melting and seen how the water spreads across the land, planted seeds to help combat climate change, and used Beebots to program a safe course from home to the South Pole.
We have enjoyed reading Lost and Found by Oliver Jeffers, about a boy and a penguin who go on a journey of discovery. We have learnt the story and actions and written our own versions. We have researched information about penguins, learnt penguin songs and made our own interpretation of Antarctica Symphony by Ralph Vaughan Williams using instruments.
In maths we are looking at addition through the ideas of First, Then and Now and we are continuing our phonics journey learning our sounds, blending words and sounding out our spellings.
